The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This includes receiving, storing, distributing, and staging materials and products using a forklift and other material handling equipment. This role ensures continuous production flow by maintaining adequate supply levels at supporting shipping and receiving activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to move locate, stack and count materials.
- Load and unload trucks, inspect deliveries for accuracy and damage, and complete necessary documentation.
- Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods between storage, production, and shipping areas.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle count as needed.
- Stage material for production according to work orders and schedules.
- Follow safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to support workflow and minimize downtime.
- Perform basic equipment inspections and maintenance (e.g., forklift pre-checks)
- Assist in packaging, labeling and palletizing finished products as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1 – 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Valid forklift certification with demonstrated safe operating history.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and work in fast paced, physically demanding environment.
- Basic math, reading, and computer skills (e.g., data entry, inventory systems)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
