Medical Assistant - ABH - Pennsylvania

• Class: MA - ABH - PA Shift: 1 Start: 08: 00: 00 End: 16: 00: 00

Requirements:

• A High School diploma or GED is required.
• A Medical Assistant certificate is required.
• Minimum of one (1) year working as a medical assistant, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
• Certification in phlebotomy is preferred.
• NOTE: requirements will vary based on division, product, subproduct, and/or state

Description:

• Assist providers with the examination of people in recovery (PIR), measuring vital signs, venipuncture, including collecting specimens and for laboratory analysis
• Prepare PIR paperwork for provider appointments
• Prepare rooms for examination by the provider
• Maintain a steady flow of PIRs in the medical department
• Respond to medical emergencies
• Complete required documentation timely.
• Exemplify customer service by answering phones and interacting with program members, staff, clinicians, and visitors in a timely and pleasant manner
• Use the EHR to check in clients presenting for appointments
• Schedule follow-up appointments and re-schedule appointments when necessary
• Work closely with medical staff and communicate when clients have arrived for appointments
• Help to resolve client’s issues as they arise to avoid escalation
• Utilize de-escalation skills when appropriate
• Positively interact with clients when waiting to see medical staff
• Accept changes in assignments in the spirit of good teamwork;accept constructive feedback about performance or behaviors;demonstrate creative thinking and problem-solving relating to issues or concerns
• Escort PIRs and all guests around the facility as needed
