We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and bilingual (Spanish-English) Medical Assistant to join our busy general, hand, and orthopedic surgery practice. This role is critical in ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for our patients from check-in to follow-up care. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and is experienced with both front and back office responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Room patients and prepare them for physician evaluation
- Take and document vital signs, height/weight, pain scales, and chief complaints
- Assist physicians with in-office procedures including:
- Cast and splint application/removal
- Suture and staple removal
- Dressing changes and post-operative care
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and ready for each patient
- Translate medical information and provider instructions for Spanish-speaking patients
Administrative Duties:
- Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries professionally
- Schedule appointments and assist with patient check-in and check-out
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility
- Assist with processing referrals, prior authorizations, and medical records requests
- Document patient interactions and clinical information accurately in the EHR system
Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office, preferably in a surgical or orthopedic setting
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written)
- Familiarity with casting, splinting, and suture/staple removal preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) and basic office software
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy clinical environment
