Job Description:

  • PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for performing a variety of duties, depending on assignment, as well as assisting providers with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.

Job Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution preferred.
  • If registered, current MA registration.
  • Experience:
  • One year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office preferred.
  • Experience in cardiology preferred.
  • Other Skills:
  • EMR Knowledge (ECW and Meditech experience preferred but not required)
  • Must possess a current CPR certification
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and organization services.

  • Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations related to patient information.

  • Knowledge of organization's policies and procedures.
Skills:
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in using computers.

  • Skill in exercising sound judgment and remaining professional at all times.

Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.

  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.

  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

  • Ability to multi-task and organize work for effective completion.

  • Ability to be punctual and available for daily assigned work.
