Medical Assistant / Patient Advocate

Our patient advocates are responsible for obtaining vital signs and entering clinical and demographic data into the EMR for patients that are being seen in our clinic or The Endoscopy Center. We have patient advocates in all of our locations – Dowell Springs, Emory Road, and Parkside Drive. Along with obtaining patient vital signs, our advocates obtain patient's medical histories including medications and past surgeries, escort patients to exam or procedures rooms, clean and stock exam rooms and help maintain the medication and supply rooms. This position is Monday- Friday. We are closed nights, weekends, and all major holidays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Entering data into our EMR including medical and demographic data reporting any concerning information to the office nurse or the patient's provider
- Entering and updating medications and patient medical conditions
- Taking Vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and entering into the EMR.
- Monitoring our patient tracking system to ensure that patient flow through the center is maintained.
- Escorting patients to the exam rooms
- Keeping the exam rooms and clinical areas clean and stocked.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PATIENT ADVOCATE:
Graduate from an Medical Assistant program with 1 year of medical office or data entry experience is preferred, but not required. Work hours are from 6:30am to 3:30pm.
