Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and professional Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This individual will play an essential role in ensuring smooth office operations and providing high-quality care to our patients. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of administrative and clinical duties, including but not limited to documenting vital signs, assisting providers during patient exams, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document vital signs, medications, and any patient complaints accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Assist providers during patient examinations and treatment procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness of treatment rooms, disinfecting and ensuring they are ready for the next patient.
- Ensure all supplies in storage areas and exam rooms are organized and replenished as needed.
- Update EMR in a timely manner with new patient information.
- Communicate with patients in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Respond to and return patient calls within 24 hours, managing a busy phone line.
- Back up front desk staff when needed, including handling patient check-ins and check-outs, appointment scheduling, and answering phone calls.
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to ensure the privacy and security of patient information.
- Create and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and procedures.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff members, and vendors.
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively, keeping up with the clinic's workflow.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or similar) preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional medical training or certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor while interacting with patients, coworkers, and vendors.
- Proficient in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to bend, twist, and reach as necessary for patient care and office tasks.
