Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients.
- Review and verify patient information, insurance coverage, and medical records for accuracy.
- Utilize medical coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9) to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage the medical collection process.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to medical billing practices.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, and insurance processes.
- Experience with both ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
