Covenant Community Care, is a faith-based charitable non-profit Community Health Center serving the people of Metro Detroit, as a Federally Qualified Health Center offering integrated medical, dental, and counseling healthcare services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. We have a full-time employment opportunity for an experienced Medical Director at our Joy clinic.
Job Description:
The Medical Director is the recognized leader of the clinic and is responsible for the delivery of medical services to promote efficient and effective medical care according to the mission, vision and goals of Covenant Community Care, Inc. Clinic care includes the delivery of quality primary health care and other health services and continuity of care to patients, making appropriate referrals with other healthcare providers to meet patient needs. Medical Directors must be able to function effectively as part of a professional team delivering healthcare in a community setting and have demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural setting. The ideal candidate will be flexible, customer service-oriented, dependable, organized, compassionate, and a team player.
Responsibilities:
Leadership Duties:
- Oversees the clinic hiring processes of providers and partners with other site leadership to provide hiring input as needed, with assistance from the human resource department and clinic administrative staff.
- Resolves employee and patient problems as needed, practicing effective listening skills, documenting details and soliciting the assistant of other leaders as needed.
- Oversees the time management of provider staff (all staff as needed) approving all their timecards and time off requests of the site, scheduling provider staff based on clinic needs ensuring effective use of time to best serve patients. Tasks may be delegated based on availability of administrative staff.
- Ensures safe medical practices are followed by all staff, students, and volunteers.
- Identifies areas for quality improvement and initiates needed change.
- Ensures Covenant policies are upheld by all staff, students and volunteers.
Provider Duties:
- Provide primary care services to patients of all ages.
- Conduct physical exams and medical histories
- Diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries
- Prescribe medications and treatments
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Provide patient education and counseling on health and wellness
Required Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Current state medical license
- Board certification in primary care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
