About us:

Lucence is a pioneering precision oncology company with a bold vision: a world where cancer is defeated through early detection and timely treatment. Our cutting-edge liquid biopsy tests use advanced molecular profiling to guide personalized cancer therapies, transforming how cancer is diagnosed and treated. At Lucence, we are shaping the future of precision medicine by capturing both genetic and cellular data from a single blood draw, bringing us closer to our mission of overcoming cancer.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Medical Director to support Lucence’s US expansion across Market Access and Medical Affairs. This highly strategic and cross-functional role will drive payer engagement, clinical evidence generation, and scientific partnerships to accelerate access and adoption of our precision oncology solutions. You will be a core contributor in our mission—bringing together medical strategy, payer insights, and field engagement to support commercialization and long-term growth in the US market.

Key Responsibilities

Market Access

  • Develop and execute national and regional payer strategies to improve patient access, drive reimbursement, and achieve commercial targets.
  • Lead payer communications and contracting discussions; present clinical and economic value propositions to support coverage decisions.
  • Track payer policy changes and provide real-time insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with billing, reimbursement, finance, and sales teams to ensure alignment and implementation of access strategies.
  • Provide input into pricing models and contracting frameworks based on evolving market dynamics and stakeholder needs.

Medical Affairs

  • Build and maintain strong scientific relationships with oncologists, hematologists, pathologists, and other KOLs.
  • Deliver high-quality education on Lucence’s products
  • Support regional advisory boards, scientific workshops, and clinical evidence planning.
  • Contribute to evidence generation through real-world data and investigator-led studies (e.g., LIQUIK).
  • Liaise with internal teams (Clinical, Product, Commercial) to align medical insights with strategic priorities.
  • Represent Lucence at scientific conferences and society meetings, supporting both field education and scientific dialogue.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD) in oncology, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 5–7 years’ experience in diagnostics, with a blend of Market Access, Medical Affairs, or payer engagement roles.
  • Proven success in working with commercial payers to secure reimbursement for diagnostic tests.
  • Deep understanding of the oncology diagnostics landscape, including NGS, MRD, MCED, and liquid biopsy applications.
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.

Other Requirements

  • US-based remote role with periodic travel to Palo Alto HQ, payer meetings, scientific conferences, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Flexibility to work across Pacific (PST) and Singapore (SGT) time zones when needed.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend calls for internal coordination or external engagements.
  • Potential for full-time conversion as the company scales
