The Membership Recruitment Manager is responsible for developing and implementing recruitment strategies designed to raise awareness and generate interest in Girl Scouts, resulting in increased girl/adult membership in an assigned geographic area; recruits volunteers; assists in developing and implementing plans for membership extension in all markets; represents and extends Girl Scouting in the community through presentations, collaborative efforts, and networking.
The Membership Recruitment Manager will:
Be responsible for year-round recruitment strategies aligned with goals and initiatives designed to raise awareness of Girl Scouts and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Utilize the sales process, including management of leads to increase girl and adult membership in assigned geographic area, recording all activities in Salesforce.
  • Identifies and develops opportunities and creates strong partnerships with community organizations, agencies, leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase positive awareness of and participation in the organization to support effective recruitment efforts within targeted areas to impact membership growth.
  • Build relationships with and collaborate with the local volunteer teams on recruitment and volunteer support.
Support new leaders and troops.
  • Executes support plan specifically developed to support new leaders’ success, engaging, and encouraging new leaders through consistent, 1:1 connection and mentoring.
  • Utilize effective strategies and collaborations with local businesses, schools, and organizations to establish new troops and place youth in existing troops.
Use data to monitor and adjust plans to meet individual and team membership goals.
  • Collaborates with cross functional-membership team to implement and tailor annual recruitment and retentions campaigns to achieve overall membership health in designated geographic areas.
  • Develop and execute a structured plan of weekly, monthly, and quarterly activities, focusing on producing positive outcomes for local communities and achieving target goals.
  • Monitor data to assess your individual progress towards Council-established recruitment goals, in partnership with your manager.
Provide responsive and positive customer service.
  • Enter and follow-up with leads from events following department protocols to answer questions and connect them with the appropriate GSNorCal staff and/or volunteers.
  • Manage your assigned Salesforce cases according to department protocols to provide support related to recruitment and troop placement.

Skills required to be successful in this role, include, but are not limited to:
  • Sales and Persuasion: Ability to connect and build trust, ask insightful questions to understand needs, and position values using tailored, compelling, language that engages and inspires. Ability to confidently, persuasively speak to groups that results in a call to action.
  • Community engagement and networking: Proven expertise in community organizing, networking, and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Technology: Proficient in cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, or Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.). Internet connection available. Experience using Canva or other creative suite type software. Understanding of CRM software such as: Salesforce.
  • Mission-Driven: Ability to demonstrate and articulate a genuine passion for the mission and vision, embrace and model the culture, and model behavior consistent with the mission and purpose of the organization.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or experience commensurate with degree, preferably three years of related experience.
  • Valid California Driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, proof of insurance
  • Able to pass Girl Scouts of Northern California’s background screening process (including fingerprinting, criminal education, social security, and Department of Motor Vehicle verification)
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout mission and programs.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, or other language, and English: A language stipend is available and is tiered according to verbal and/or written proficiency.
Work schedule and office expectations.
  • This position is full-time exempt, 37.5 hours per week. More hours may be required during peak seasons
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including afternoons, nights, and weekends. This position requires an average of 2-4 work evenings per week during peak season.
  • Frequent travel through the assigned region to accomplish tasks and attend events.
  • Assigned Region: The Greater San Francisco area, including Marin County, San Francisco County, West Contra Costa, and Berkeley. The designated home office for this role is located in Alameda.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs (boxes, materials, equipment).
  • Possess physical endurance including prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching.
