POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction and immediate supervision of the CST Program Director, the Mental Health Professional (MHP) provides screening, intake, case management, and crisis services within the Crisis Care System programs. The MHP plays a vital role in supporting individuals by conducting assessments, promoting recovery, and collaborating with staff to develop person-centered action plans.
CST services include mental health rehabilitation and supports designed to reduce hospitalizations and crisis episodes while improving community functioning. Services focus on illness self-management, skill-building, adaptive and compensatory skill use, and connection to natural supports and community resources. The majority of CST services are delivered in natural environments based on the needs of the individuals supported.
Salary: $40,500-$47,500
Location: Joliet, IL
Shift: Variable weekday; 2 evening shifts per week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide direct support to individuals experiencing mental health crises
- Deliver services in natural settings tailored to individual needs
- Conduct required assessments in response to crisis situations
- Assist individuals in completing paperwork to enroll in and maintain benefits
- Support individuals during medical and psychiatric appointments
- Teach and reinforce independent living skills (e.g., cooking, cleaning, laundry)
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed
- Complete Medicaid service documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Conduct community outreach and facilitate connections to local resources
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
- Push and pull up to 75 pounds
- Perform deep knee squats
- Push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
- Remain in stationary positions (sitting or standing) for extended periods
- Engage in physical activities including: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong communication and empathic listening skills
- Experience facilitating or participating in therapeutic groups
- Ability to engage effectively with individuals in crisis
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
- Experience facilitating or participating in support or therapy groups
