In order to continually promote and create innovative products that support our vision we are currently seeking a Microbiology Analyst for our Owensboro, KY plant.
The focus of this position is microbiology benchwork activities and to provide microbiological expertise required to generate quality, on time results. The Microbiologist is expected to spend the majority of time in the microbiology laboratory, while providing any needed assistance to support the OAS Analytical Lab.
Responsibilities include:
- Performs analyses utilizing classic microbiological techniques such as isolation, differential culturing, staining techniques, aseptic technique, and is knowledgeable in automated microbiological instrumentation.
- Responsible to maintain cleanliness and orderly arrangement of Microbiology Laboratory.
- Responsible for accurate records of assigned projects.
- Responsible for routine and non-routine Microbiology analyses.
- Provides microbiological support to Production, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, and Leaf Operations.
- Performs special projects as directed by Owensboro Analytical Science (OAS) Assistant Manager.
- Performs OAS Analytical methods and provides support to the OAS Analytical team as needed.
- Responsible for equipment and culture media sterilization and autoclave procedures and maintenance.
- Responsible for written SOPs of validated methods and procedures and development of new microbiology methods, techniques, and procedures.
- Responsible for routine and non-routine Microbiology analyses.
- Provides support to Sr Analytical Chemist, Analytical Chemist, Sr Chemical Analyst, and Chemical Analyst, and Laboratory Technicians as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in scientific discipline, such as microbiology, related field, or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE: Proficient in microbiology techniques
SKILL: Must be skilled in microbiology, ISO 17025 procedures and compliance, microbiological instrumentation troubleshooting, and laboratory automation. Must be customer and goal oriented, and passionate about obtaining OAS goals and objectives.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledgeable in the areas of microbiology including microbiology procedures, laboratory automation, computer technology, project management, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledgeable in microbiological laboratory safety, procedures, and methodologies.
Knowledgeable in ISO 17025 Standard requirements.
Knowledgeable in microbiological method validation procedures
