Overview
Innovation Academy West is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 6-8. The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment where students develop a strong foundation in scientific principles, critical thinking skills, and a lifelong curiosity about the natural world. This role involves delivering a comprehensive science curriculum, conducting hands-on experiments, and promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
Duties
- Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate science lessons aligned with state and national science standards (e.g., NGSS - Next Generation Science Standards).
- Create a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, stimulating, and conducive to learning for all students.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments, projects, and technology integration, to meet diverse learning styles.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of student grades, attendance, and progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents/guardians to support student success and well-being.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education and middle school pedagogy.
- Supervise students during school hours, including in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during school events.
- Contribute to the school community through participation in extracurricular activities, committees, and school-wide initiatives.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting respect, responsibility, and a positive learning atmosphere.
