Black Soil KY is looking for an energetic, self driven, and community oriented employee to fill the role of Neighborhood Market Associate on our growing team!
The Black Soil Charitable Fund, Inc, DBA Black Soil KY, is a nonprofit whose mission of Black Soil KY is to reconnect Black Kentuckians to their heritage and legacy in agriculture. By bringing together urban families with rural and urban-based Black farmers/growers/producers across the state, we help introduce opportunities in agriculture that promote self-sufficiency, encourage healthy living, and activate cooperative economics.
The Neighborhood Market Associate would assist our mission by working in our two brick and mortar retail locations as 820 Lane Allen Road and 760 Florence Avenue. These Farmacy Neighborhood Markets help fulfill our mission by providing produce from our local/regional network of farmers to our community at accessible pricing. Responsibilities include customer service, inventory, stocking, and basic admin.
The Neighborhood Market Associate would be expected to represent Black Soil KY in the highest standards, both in customer service and ability to speak knowledgeably on our mission, ongoing events, farmers, and products.
Position Pay
This position is part time, and pay is between $17.00 - $20.00 per hour, depending on experience. Seasonal changes in hours can occur, with late fall/winter hours varying between 0-20 hours per week and spring/summer from 25-35 hours per week.
Requirements for this position:
- High school degree, GED, or equivalent.
- 3 years experience in customer service position.
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in POS systems.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must agree to background check.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds without assistance and stand for prolonged periods. This pertains to moving, loading, and unloading of produce.
