MACHINERY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The machinery maintenance technician follows prescribed safety procedures. (Ref. SAFETY50)
2. The machinery maintenance technician performs weekly machine cleaning according to the schedule determined by the Maintenance Manager or his appointed associate. This consists of the following:
a. Opening all access doors to get to the internal parts.
b. Removing any chokes or tags found.
c. Using air hose to blow machinery off as needed.
d. Repairing any worn or damaged parts which would cause machine
or quality problems if left uncorrected.
e. Closing all access doors when finished and making sure that the
machinery runs properly.
3. The machinery maintenance technician performs maintenance to his assigned machines according to the schedule assigned by the Maintenance Manager or his appointed associate. To do this he does the following:
a. Performs any cleaning required while the machine is down.
b. Makes the required settings (or ensures that the settings are correct) according to the process or machine specifications in the Process Specifications Manual or according to the specifications posted on the machinery itself.
c. Replaces any parts that are either damaged or worn beyond the point of use.
d. Corrects any discrepancies found during random machinery inspections if these discrepancies have not already been corrected.
e. If a scheduled inspection is being performed while the technician is performing maintenance, the maintenance technician corrects any discrepancies found during the inspection, if possible.
f. Fills out and turns the appropriate P.M. sheet in to the Maintenance Manager or his appointed associate to be filed away.
g. Ensures through observation that the machine is producing a quality product when he is through doing maintenance.
h. The appropriate maintenance form is filled out according to the machinery that is being maintenance.
4. The machinery maintenance technician repairs any machinery breakdowns which the production department technicians are unable to repair when assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
5. The machinery maintenance technician corrects any machinery making nonconforming product when requested.
