Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner will evaluate, diagnose and administer medications to clients in the Adult Outpatient Program. Position is not remote.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Psychiatrists, other mental health professionals and outside providers as needed.
- Prescribe, administer and monitor medications.
- Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests.
- Order appropriate laboratory and toxicology tests.
- Obtain client information by comprehensive medical history and to verify physical examination of the clients who have been admitted.
- Assess and consult with clinical staff in medical and psychiatric emergency situations.
- Serve as 24-hour back up for on-call rotation as needed.
- Perform Psychiatric Evaluations to clients in the Outpatient Program.
- Obtain height, weight and vital signs of clients.
- Develop and maintain a client case load of size and complexity commensurate with licensure, experience and agency needs according to protocol.
- See patients as needed for medication evaluation, prescribing medications, monitoring injections and otherwise as needed.
- Direct and monitor the receipt, handling and tracking of sample or other medications as needed.
- Receive, review and respond as appropriate to calls regarding medical or medication issues according to protocol.
- Provide liaison to pharmacy providers and to laboratory providers including reviewing lab reports.
- Assist the Director of Psychiatric Services to prepare for audits.
- Attend and participate with in-service training as necessary.
- Responsible for timely completion of documentation in the client?s clinical record in compliance with Enki, LA County Department of Mental Health, State and other legal requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education And Experience Preferred:
- Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program required; completion of specialty certificate in psychiatric/mental health nursing is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Currently certified by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current California Licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
- Possession of a Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number granted by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Controlled Substance Registration Certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration.
- Must register in C.U.R.E.S. DEA program upon hire.
- Must apply for Medicare Certification upon hire if not already certified.
- Valid California driver?s license, current automobile insurance, and eligibility to drive for the company preferred.
- LPS Designation should be obtained after six months of employment as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrate strong psychiatric diagnostic skills.
- Possess a broad knowledge of current psychopharmacology.
- Able to respond quickly and professionally in crisis situations.
- Able to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Desire to work within community mental health.
- Able to perform in a positive, courteous, flexible, and adaptive manner.
- Computer literate and experienced with using Electronic Medical Health Records systems.
- Must be able clearly to communicate, both orally and in writing.
- Able to work in a focused and organized manner that results in required clinical notes and billing being completed on time and efficiently.
- Able to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
Physical Requirements:
- See well enough (with or without corrected vision) to read fine print, hand-written materials, and a computer screen.
- Speak and hear well enough (with or without assistive device) to converse in person and by telephone.
- Finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms, including ability to use a computer keyboard.
- Have the mobility (with or without assistive device) to stand, sit, crouch, and move from one work area to another.
- Have the strength to lift, carry or push office equipment and supplies used in normal job functions up to 20 lbs.
- Stamina to effectively perform work activities.
Pay Range: Starting at $85.00/Hour (Determined by Experience and Qualifications)
