Job Title: Nurse, School/Program Full-time Eastern Lake County
Reports To: Program Supervisor
Summary: Provide support to staff to address student medical needs which may be indicated on the IEP. Create and provide ongoing staff medical training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned by the Administration.
Keep informed of trends, methods, and issues as well as local, state, and federal mandates/policies relating to your areas of certification/licensure.
Provide an environment conducive to learning for all students by:
Using all available resources that allow for individual differences.
Properly supervising student activity.
Promoting student participation and interaction.
Perform necessary record keeping procedures to include:
Attendance
Assessment results
Behavioral incidences
Provide annual medical training and as needed to include but not limited to the following:
Medication Administration
Seizure Management Strategies
Tube Feeding Administration
Provide quality health care for students by:
Coordinating and providing vision and hearing screenings.
Administering medications and monitoring delegated medication administration
Assisting in the evaluation of students for Special Services (Special Education)
Administering medications and monitoring delegated medication administration
Assisting in the evaluation of students for Special Services (Special Education)
Implementing the Medical Needs and IEP conditions of the assigned student(s)
Participating in curriculum development and material selection.
Being involved in intervention strategies; medical, academic and behavioral.
Supporting and upholding school policy and procedures.
Developing frequent communications either written or oral with: Parents of children; The teachers and administrators of the building/district; Related agencies/community members who provide services to children.; Teachers/Staff from other districts.
Attend meetings and complete forms necessary for the quality operation of education relating to your area of responsibility.
Education/Experience & Certification: A current Ohio Nursing License is required. School experience is preferred.
Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently able to perform holds up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Peripheral vision. While performing the duties of their job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit; bend; twist; and squat. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
After proper training, assist students with personal health needs and non-medical procedures; position and/or perform on-person or two-person lift of a child; and perform restraints on students when needed.
Criminal Records Check: Must comply with Ohio Revised Code 3319.39 – Criminal Records Check.
Drug Testing: Must pass a drug screen at time of hire and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
