About the job

$15/hr - $18/hr

This role supports clients in maintaining maximum independence by assisting with medication setup, activities of daily living (ADLs), and wound care, all while safeguarding client privacy. This position requires attention and care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with ADLs such as bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, and mobility support, tailored to the client's individual abilities. Communicate clearly with clients to help ease any anxiety or uncertainty about the care being provided.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with clients through consistent interaction, offering emotional support and encouraging participation in enjoyable activities, both within and outside the home. Empower clients to make choices and actively take part in planning their daily routines.
  • Deliver timely medication reminders and assist with medication setup as appropriate.
  • Ensure proper and safe use of prescribed medical devices like wheelchairs, walkers, dentures, and hearing aids.
  • Help with meal preparation and support clients' nutritional needs, including accompanying them to dining locations if needed.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain an orderly and comfortable living environment, assisting clients with organizing their personal belongings for easier access.
  • Assist clients in preparing shopping and errands lists; accompany clients or run errands on their behalf, coordinating transportation as necessary through the Perfect Fit office.
  • Keep thorough daily records of client activities and report any changes in their physical or mental condition to help inform care decisions by medical professionals and family members.
  • Support clients experiencing memory challenges by providing gentle redirection when appropriate.
  • Administer wound care as part of the client's care plan.

Duties

  • Regularly inspect medical equipment for any defects or malfunctions and arrange for repairs when needed.
  • Identify and refer potential clients who may benefit from Perfect Fit Home Care's services, and assist in promoting the agency to inquiries.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of CNA experience, preferably with older adult populations.

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Current CNA certification in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Valid driver's license.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, especially for addressing sensitive health and end-of-life matters with clients and their families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage clients effectively and build trusting relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of supervisors, staff, and external partners.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, sitting, and occasional bending, twisting, and lifting (up to 25 pounds). Ability to push wheelchairs weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to perform tasks safely and communicate effectively.
  • Frequent use of hand-eye coordination and moderate use of office technology such as scheduling software and smartphones.
  • Ability to transport clients to appointments and errands.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based indoors within clients' homes, typically in climate-controlled settings.

Mental and Emotional Demands

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks independently while also functioning well as part of a team.
  • Capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment with frequent changes and demands for precision.

Safety and Compliance

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal background checks, and TB testing.
  • Must meet motor vehicle record (MVR) standards.
  • Compliance with the Perfect Fit Home Care Influenza Prevention and Vaccine Policy is required.
