Job Title: Director of Nursing – Behavioral Health

Schedule: Full-Time | On-site | 24/7 Leadership Responsibility
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for designated behavioral health units within our hospital. In this key leadership role, you will work in close partnership with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care across all assigned areas.
The Director will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice at a multi-unit level, while ensuring regulatory compliance, staff competency, operational efficiency, and excellence in patient outcomes. This role carries 24/7 accountability for operational performance and clinical outcomes in the assigned units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CNO to develop and implement strategies that support nursing excellence and clinical quality.
- Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and performance management to unit managers and clinical staff.
- Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, age-appropriate, and trauma-informed care in all behavioral health settings.
- Oversee staffing, budgetary performance, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency without compromising quality.
- Champion professional development and continuing education to build a highly competent nursing workforce.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical quality metrics, patient safety outcomes, and compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Act as a liaison and advocate for nursing in interdisciplinary committees, process improvement teams, and executive forums.
- Serve as a role model for ethical leadership, professional conduct, and a culture of safety and accountability.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or a BSN.
- Preferred: Master’s degree (MSN) or a master's in a healthcare-related discipline.
Experience:
- Required: Minimum of 2 years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting, including charge nurse or nurse manager roles.
- Behavioral health experience: At least 2 years of clinical or leadership experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health environment is required.
Licensure & Certifications:
- Active and unencumbered RN license in the state of practice.
- CPR certification (BLS) required.
- Additional behavioral health certifications (e.g., PMH-BC) preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage change, lead teams, and drive performance improvement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
