La Rabida Children's Hospital is hiring a full-time Nursing Director- Inpatient Operations for the Patient Care department in Chicago, IL.

Nursing Director for Inpatient Operations Job Summary:

The Director of Inpatient Operations provides functional and administrative supervision and is responsible for leading, planning, managing, and directing all activities and programs for inpatient services. The Director functions as a team builder and takes an active role in assuring coordination of care, by collaborating with the entire healthcare team including the medical staff, and other clinical and support services. Serves as an innovative key leader that assures accountability and follow-through by utilizing critical thinking skills to problem solve and provide support.

Nursing Director for Inpatient Operations Essential Functions:

  • Advances the SS La Rabida in innovation by identifying improvement opportunities, strategic planning, and developing solutions consistent with evidence-based research.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Educators, Director of Quality, to ensure policy and procedures are reviewed and updated and assure that the application of policies are consistently maintained
  • Strong focus on patient safety, quality, and compliance performance in conformance with effective operational, financial, and business development activities.
  • Leads the coordination of care for patients’ pre-arrival, during the stay, and post-discharge ensuring that the team has identified the necessary new equipment, supplies, and education of staff needed to implement the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to adjust to a rapidly changing environment. Analyzes trends and changes in the healthcare environment including care models through literature review, QI, regulations, and outcome data.

What we need from you:

  • Education: Master’s degree in nursing Required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of experience working in pediatrics, required.
  • Four (4) or more years of progressive clinical healthcare leadership experience in a hospital setting
  • Strategic vision skills. The ability to anticipate future trends, establish goals and objectives and articulate them into clear and concise business plans.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and trends in healthcare administration, including fiscal management, government regulations, physician relations, contracting, and team building.
  • Proven ability to interact and work collaboratively with senior leadership, board members, physicians, and a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Strong facilitative skills, with the ability to compel others to strive to meet continuous improvement objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in building effective teams and an ability to delegate, lead, mentor, and develop professionals.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills strong interpersonal skills required; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to successfully mediate and solve complex operating issues involving the interests of multiple constituencies

Compensation Information:
Pay Range: $130,000 - $150,000
