JOB DESCRIPTION
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Five (5) years’ experience in nursing practice and familiarity with healthcare technologies and systems
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
- Ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with the cross functional teams
- Proficiency with electronic health records systems and other healthcare technologies.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and initiatives with a high degree of reliability
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in health care
- Ability to creatively develop solutions that improve clinician, care team, and patient experiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master’s degree in nursing or nursing informatics
- Seven (7) years’ experience in nursing practice and familiarity with healthcare technologies and systems
- Proficiency with Epic
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- Certification in Nursing Informatics (e.g., RN-BC)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- (25%) – Technology Advancement
- Collaborate with IT departments, nursing teams, and operations to implement, configure, and maintain Epic and other health information systems, ensuring a system-wide view and adherence to design principles
- Provide nursing process expertise to assess and recommend ways technology could support organizational goals and strategies, enhance workflows and improve access to patient information
- Guide solution design, incorporating nursing/healthcare knowledge, data analysis, human-centered design, and quality improvement concepts to ensure optimal fit for patient care and nursing usability
- Participate in testing technology changes to identify impact and change management needs and to ensure new and existing functionality work as designed
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in nursing informatics, sharing insights, offering recommendations, and leading efforts to advance tools
- (25%) – User-Proficiency and System Utilization Support
- Combine data analytics and observational insights to identify proficiency opportunities for nurses and evaluate outcomes of targeted education and training
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure effective use of systems
- Identify learning opportunities and, in partnership with the Learning and Development team, provide subject matter expertise on the creation of education and training solutions
- (15%)- Clinical Workflow Optimization:
- Use data driven insights to identify and guide the optimization of nursing workflows to ensure that technology supports efficient and effective patient care
- Document specifications that will translate into the development of tools, reports, and systems that support organizational priorities
- Develop and refine nursing documentation practices to enhance accuracy and usability
- (15%)- Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives by using data and technology to identify areas for improvement
- Incorporate informatics theories, principles, and concepts to evaluate the impact of technology on nursing practice and patient outcomes and inform opportunities for optimization and improvement
- (10%)- Collaboration:
- Partner with appropriate teams to communicate system changes, workflow process changes, downtime procedures, and relevant information
- Collaborate and consult with internal and external clinicians, vendors, academic programs, and healthcare organizations to stay informed on the evolution of technology and to share knowledge and experiences to determine the best technologies and solutions for the organization
- Engage with Clinical Informatics, Epic Physician Builders, and other designated teams to ensure alignment and coordination as work intersects across these areas
- (5%)- Data Analysis:
- Define data needs for data informatics and other reporting teams to create the necessary metrics
- Partner with Data Operations to analyze healthcare data to identify trends, improve patient outcomes, increase care team efficiency, and support evidence-based practice
- (5%) - Policy and Compliance:
- Maintain a working knowledge of licensing, regulatory, and compliance factors related to clinical information system usage.
- Assist in development and ongoing review of system related policies, procedures, and competencies; assure technologies and workflows align where appropriate and meet best practices
