Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to assist patients in improving their ability to perform daily living and work-related activities. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care, medical terminology, and various therapeutic techniques to support rehabilitation efforts across diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and neurodiverse individuals.
The SUPER S.T.A.R.S Model is an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to neurodevelopmental care. It combines medical, therapeutic, and behavioral treatments in one coordinated program, grounded in neuroscience and personalized to each child’s unique developmental profile and goals. By uniting specialists across fields—neurology, speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavior therapy, and more—SUPER S.T.A.R delivers comprehensive, evidence-based care that supports the whole child and empowers families.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Support patients in performing therapeutic exercises and activities designed to enhance mobility and daily functioning.
- Monitor patient progress and document changes in their condition or response to therapy.
- Educate patients and their families on care plans, exercises, and strategies for improving daily living skills.
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for therapy sessions by following infection control protocols.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to occupational therapy practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology to effectively communicate within the healthcare team.
- Experience in developing and implementing care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Understanding of pediatric, geriatric, inpatient, and home health therapy practices.
- Proficient in providing patient care with empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to utilize medical imaging techniques as part of the assessment process when necessary.
