Optometric Assistant
Duties:
- Assist optometrist with patient examinations and procedures
- Perform preliminary tests and gather patient history
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and organized
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Assist with frame selection and fitting for glasses
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Handle medical billing and coding using systems such as Epic
- Maintain inventory of eyewear and contact lenses
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical or retail setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical billing, coding, and records management
- Familiarity with retail sales and retail math concepts
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
Note: Experience or interest in pediatrics is a plus.
At Premier Eyecare, we are committed to providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting the optometrist in delivering high-quality care. You will be responsible for performing various duties related to patient care, administrative tasks, and retail sales.
In this role, you will work closely with the optometrist to ensure smooth patient flow and provide support during examinations. Additionally, you will assist patients with frame selection for glasses and educate them on contact lens care.
To excel in this position, you should have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively. Ideal candidates will be outgoing and enjoy helping others and working as a team. Previous experience in a medical or retail setting is preferred, as well as knowledge of medical billing, coding, and records management. Familiarity with retail sales and retail math concepts is also beneficial.
