Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting optometrists in providing high-quality eye care to patients. You will perform various clinical tasks, manage patient records, and ensure a smooth workflow within the clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and experience in a clinical or retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and conducting preliminary tests.
- Manage patient flow and ensure timely appointments while maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Handle medical billing processes and insurance claims as necessary.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, eyewear options, and post-examination procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing inventory of optical supplies.
- Stay updated on ophthalmology advancements and best practices to provide the best patient care.
Experience
- Previous experience in a clinical setting or retail sales is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and ophthalmology practices is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of medical billing processes and HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
