JOB SUMMARY:
The Optometrist will provide high-quality, comprehensive eye care services with proficiency and clinical excellence consistent with the full scope of their licensure. This role is focused on delivering efficient, patient-centered care that enhances outcomes and supports the overall objectives of medical/surgical practice. The Optometrist is encouraged to cultivate a robust individual optometric practice within the broader multidisciplinary setting, contributing to the growth and success of the organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Doctor of Optometry Degree
2. Current license as an Optometrist in the state of Kentucky.
3. Excellent oral / written communication skills.
4. Demonstrates above average interpersonal skills.
5. Two years’ experience in an ophthalmology setting preferred.
6. Two years’ experience in leadership.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Provide comprehensive ocular disease management, including the diagnosis and treatment of complex conditions.
2. Manage clinical triage responsibilities and ensure efficient patient flow throughout the clinic while meeting benchmarks for efficiency.
3. Conduct thorough patient evaluations with meticulous attention to detail while maintaining quality care as evidenced by minimal variances and continual process improvement.
4. Perform clinical assessments including pupil testing on all new patients, keratometry on cataract evaluations, intraocular pressure measurement, and gonioscopy for glaucoma assessments prior to dilation. Conduct any additional indicated testing as needed.
5. Participate in the after-hours on-call schedule as designated by the Practice Manager.
6. Conduct Saturday post-operative examinations and provide oversight for clinical technicians, as necessary.
7. In the absence of a clinical ophthalmic assistant, technician, or technologist, learn to perform the following diagnostic and technical procedures: • Administer visual field testing • Conduct A-scan biometry and specular microscopy • Capture fundus, slit lamp, and external ocular photography
8. Accurately document and maintain electronic health records for all patient encounters.
