Job description:
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to provide temporary or relief optometry services in Delano, CA. The role focuses on delivering high-quality vision care, including diagnosis and treatment of specific eye conditions, in a patient-centered environment. This position is ideal for an optometrist with strong clinical skills and a background in patient care, particularly in a medical or correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care and Examinations:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose visual and ocular conditions, including allergies, infections, and other eye-related issues.
- Perform vision testing to determine refractive errors and prescribe corrective lenses (glasses or contact lenses) as needed.
- Screen for common eye conditions such as dry eyes, infections, and glaucoma, and provide appropriate treatment or referrals to ophthalmologists for advanced care.
- Utilize state-of-the-art examining procedures and equipment to ensure accurate diagnoses.
- Specialized Treatments:
- Provide optometry services for patients with specific conditions, such as post-cataract care, including the use of Light Adjustable Lens treatments with a Light Delivery Device to improve vision post-surgery.
- Conduct refractions and test for monovision suitability to optimize patient outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with patients to understand their visual needs and provide education on proper eye care.
- Collaborate with clinical teams, including ophthalmic technicians, to ensure smooth patient flow and comprehensive care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and team members regarding clinical conditions, diagnostic results, and treatment plans.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records, preferably using electronic health record systems.
- Ensure compliance with state laws and regulations governing optometry practice.
- Proficiency in medical coding practices related to optometry is a plus.
Qualifications
- Education and Licensure:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid California state license to practice optometry.
- Certification in Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) and Glaucoma (TLG) certification preferred.
- Current California DEA and Furnishing license may be required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as an optometrist is required.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic) is highly preferred.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong clinical skills in optometric practices and procedures.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly desirable.
- Advanced time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a high-volume clinical setting and collaborate with a dynamic team.
