Job Title: Outpatient Rehabilitation Coordinator
Job Summary
The outpatient coordinator is responsible for point of contact intake including outpatient scheduling, insurance verification/authorization and providing support to therapy and the operational team members.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs point of contact customer service
- Processes patient registrations including verifying insurance, obtaining authorization, and entering all pertinent information
- Notifies patient of and collects/processes financial obligation
- Maintains departmental patient schedule and census information
- Assists with reconciliation of billing and serves as a liaison with the Accounting Department to resolve issues
- Attends department meetings and in-services as needed
- Schedules and processes walk in appointments
- Performs other support functions as needed
- Assist the occupational and physical therapists as directed with treatment procedures in accordance with clinic policies and procedures as needed
Job Requirements
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience:
- Three years’ experience in healthcare with focus on medical billing and patient registration
Licenses/Certifications:
- N/A
- Proficient in Medicare, Medicaid, and HMO regulations
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the financial aspects of outpatient rehabilitation
- Good problem solving and clinical judgment skills
- Demonstrate ability to take initiative, be adaptable and work well independently
- Be well organized, flexible, dependable, and punctual
- Ability to work well with staff, individuals, and participants of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, Excel)
