HiTech, a utility construction company, is hiring and willing to train an overhead telecommunications aerial groundhand laborer. Candidates will need to have a valid Class C driver's License with a clean driving record and must pass a DOT physical to obtain a medical card. The job is full-time and offers a benefits package, and we prefer to hire long-term employees. Must be comfortable working at heights and in outdoor settings.
Responsibilities:
All phases of overhead telecommunications aerial groundhand laborer include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment.
- Driving trucks and trailers to transport equipment and materials, loading and unloading equipment.
- The ability to tow trailers with machinery
- Installing aerial strand and fiber optic cable on pole lines, setting up safety signs and equipment on the ground, pulling ropes, and securing pole anchors.
- Hand dig using shovel, mechanical tools
- Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety requirements and ability to work safely in elevated positions
- Working in congested or remote areas
- Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
- Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor
- Flagging and maintaining the worksite
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies.
- 90% of work is local.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Class C Driver's License
- Ability to lift, push, or move freight that weighs an average of 40-60 pounds.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must pass a pre-employment screening, DOT drug test
- Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week & required to work overtime if needed. May be required to work weekends or after hours for emergency calls.
