Job Summary
The Packer plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of incoming egg production by securely palletizing egg flats. This role is essential for the safe loading of egg flats into semi-trailers for transportation, supporting the overall operational goals of the packing department.
Essential Job Functions
- Palletize egg flats safely and securely.
- Maintain a steady pace on the packaging line to ensure continuous workflow.
- Inspect egg flats for missing, broken, or leaking eggs, and remove any defective products.
- Place stacks of loaded egg flats onto pallets securely.
- Move palletized flats using a pallet jack and replace pallets as needed.
- Assist team members with tasks as required.
- Clean and sanitize the work area at the end of each day.
- Maintain cleanliness of the packing floor area.
- Clean and wipe down machines and conveyors.
- Regularly empty shell collection trays.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and perform duties requiring reaching, bending, twisting, and lifting above the head.
- Ability to read, understand, and speak simple sentences and follow directions and instructions.
- Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with two-digit numbers, and working with money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and/or holiday hours as required based on the production demand
- Ability to work in various climate conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Ability to use inventory management software and basic computer skills.
Work Environment
The role is based in a fast-paced packing environment, requiring the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. The position involves standing for extended periods and performing tasks that require bending, lifting, and twisting on various surfaces, including concrete. The work setting includes working in a cooler environment, which demands adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
