Position Summary

Pierce County Parks is accepting applications for a temporary extra hire job opening for a Recreation Specialist in the South Region, located in the Frederickson Community Center at Cross Park. Your primary focus will be exceptional customer service as you assist the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator with rental operations. You will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of rental reservations, including general customer service, clerical tasks, permitting, room preparation, touring prospective renters, and working with the coordinator and supervisor to schedule staff coverage.

Core Daily Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Assist with the facility rental process for South Region rentals.
- Act as a point of contact for facility rentals.
- Create and edit facility use permits through ActiveNet.
- Conduct facility tours for prospective renters.
- Assist with room preparation, including setting up and taking down equipment, tables and chairs.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and assist with light cleaning duties.
- Work with the coordinator and supervisor to schedule staff.
- Respond to public inquiries, and requests and provide information within the scope of knowledge via email, phone, and in person.
- Perform routine clerical and administrative duties including word processing, filing, reviewing, and proofreading.
- Handle mail, answer phones, prepare correspondence, and provide information.
- May assist with special projects, special uses, and programs as needed.
- Attend operational meetings as instructed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 6 months of customer service experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Experience working in a parks and recreation department/setting
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
- Experience using ActiveNet recreation management software
