Pay rate for this position is $14.00 an hour. Incumbent will be scheduled for approximately 25 hours per week; days nights and some weekend days are required.

NATURE OF WORK
The Part-Time Attendant for the City of Portsmouth’s Recreation Department provides support services for the Connie Bean Center. These services include but are not limited to answering the telephone, in person assistance to residents and monitoring gym activities.
SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the direction of the Recreation Director, Assistant Recreation Director, Recreation Supervisor, or their designee. Incumbent plans and carries out daily work with a degree of independence and teamwork. Performance is subject to review according to the City's personnel plan through observation, reports and the results achieved.

1. Answering the phone, greeting visitors, monitoring gym activities and working department special events.

4. Responds appropriately to inquiries and/or complaints from the public in a timely and courteous manner by bringing them to the Recreation Supervisor.
5. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

The position serves as an initial point of contact for the Portsmouth Connie Bean Center. The incumbent has constant contact with the public by answering inquiries and providing information on programs and activities. Contacts occur in person, in writing, by email and on the telephone. Must have a knowledge of basic computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively with the general public, City staff, and government officials at all levels.
ENVIRONMENT, WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT
Primary duties of this position involve: communicating accurately and effectively with members of the public and staff on a variety of center related items. This includes responding to inquiries and complaints and providing information. Work is performed in an open office setting which can be somewhat noisy. Current position includes some limited physical requirements including transporting gym materials, reports, and office supplies weighing up to 25 pounds and accessing file cabinets to organize paperwork.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Customer service, basic computer skills, and/or an interest in recreation is desired.
