Job responsibilities include:
Prepare curriculum and teach group fitness classes. Complete ancillary administrative records and assist with promotions. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Attend staff meetings and in-house training as required. Annually, contribute to the assessment of the class and personal performance evaluation. Remain current in industry standards prescribed by supervisor. Behave in a professional manner, work as a team player and adhere to facility policies.
- Documented completion of a minimum 450-hours Comprehensive Pilates teacher - training program - preferred
- American CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of hire – required
- Nationally recognized Pilates certification - required
- Previous Pilates teacher experience in a gym/health club environment - preferred
- Responsible to building and maintaining a member/client business
UCSF Fitness and Recreation inspires growth and health on the UCSF campus through fitness, community, and play. The Group Fitness unit is an integral part of Fitness and Recreation and provides customer service while ensuring participants participate in Pilates instruction in a safe environment. The Pilates Instructor works under direct supervision of the Asst Director Fitness Programs and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Fitness unit, which includes customer service, creating and following lesson plans and providing quality instruction to all program participants.
Note: This is a limited position and ends 1 year from date of hire, with potential to renew annually.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.
- Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills.
- Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills.
- Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills.
- Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Exercise Science or a related field of study strongly.
- Documented completion of a minimum 450-hours Comprehensive Pilates teacher - training program.
- One year experience teaching on all Pilates apparatus and/or have completed Pilates Teacher training with a minimum of 450 hours.
- Knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
- Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties.
- Rehab or injury management experience.
License/Certification
- American CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of hire
- Nationally recognized Pilates certification
