Job Description
Under limited supervision, the Patient Transportation Aide is responsible for the critical function of patient, specimen, and equipment transport throughout the Medical Center.
- Execute safe and efficient transportation of patients between medical departments, ensuring strict adherence to Medical Center protocols and patient care standards
- Maintain precise handling and transportation of medical specimens in accordance with established safety procedures and regulatory requirements
- Conduct systematic equipment transport operations while adhering to proper handling protocols and safety guidelines
- Implement prescribed infection control measures during all transport activities
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of transport requests to maintain optimal departmental workflow
- Demonstrate thorough compliance with all Medical Center policies and procedures regarding patient privacy and confidentiality
- Maintain detailed documentation of all transport activities as per departmental requirements
- Uphold professional conduct standards to ensure positive representation of the Patient Transportation Department and Medical Center
- Exercise proper judgment in accessing medication storage areas as required by job duties
- Participate in required safety training and maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Professional Requirements
- Mandatory Educational Requirement: High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification. Note: Successful completion of the certification program through Baltimore City Public School Systems in conjunction with Project Search internship will be considered as an equivalent qualification.
- Critical Experience Requirement: A minimum of one (1) year of documented experience in a healthcare environment or customer service-oriented field is imperative for this position.
- Professional Enhancement: Candidates with one (1) year of direct experience as a Patient Transportation Aide will be given priority consideration in the selection process.
