Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare, a Porch Light Health company, is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach/Peer Support Specialist for our Lakewood Colorado Location. Porch Light Health is a local leader in outpatient treatment of Opioid Use Disorders and other addictive disorders. Principal Duties and Personal Attributes as a Peer Recovery Coach:
The Peer Recovery Coach will work closely with program directors and counselors, to help patients receiving medication assisted treatment, to overcome barriers that limit their ability to receive maximum therapeutic benefit from services. Peer Recovery Coach will also support patients in identifying and connecting to available resources within the community that will best support their recovery efforts. Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Experience working with or in tandem with peer support networks
- Peer Coaching or Peer Support Specialist Certification, preferred (CCAR, CPSW)
Essential Functions:
- Assist individuals with recovery planning, relapse prevention, housing needs, and
education/employment
- Perform outreach and engagement into local evidence-based treatment for people experiencing substance misuse.
- Create meaningful and lasting relationships with individuals with substance misuse seeking treatment and understand their needs to assist them in being linked to the appropriate treatment resources.
- Facilitate peer recovery support services, in a group and/or individual settings.
Partner with treatment providers, hospital Emergency Departments, harm reduction organizations, support services, law enforcement, and other partners to educate each about the availability of treatment and ensure effective linkage to services from the community.
- Exhibit a nonjudgmental approach, listen with empathy, and have the ability to support people in
discovering their own solutions
Experience:
Lived experience of recovery from substance misuse for a minimum of 1 year.
- Completion of minimum 60 hours of peer recovery coach training or willingness to complete this training within 6 months of employment required
- A person who has utilized medication assisted treatment/recovery and who is actively participating in his/her chosen pathway of recovery required.
