Overview
This hybrid role combines clinical chairside assisting with front office administrative duties, including dental insurance coordination. The position ensures exceptional clinical support during periodontal procedures while also providing professional administrative support to patients and the dental team, including accurate insurance verification and claim coordination. We are willing to train the right candidate if there is an eager learner!
Clinical Assistant Duties:
- Prepare operatory rooms and maintain a sterile and organized environment in compliance with infection control protocols.
- Assist the periodontist during examinations and surgical procedures by anticipating needs, passing instruments, retracting tissues, suctioning, and maintaining patient comfort.
- Take and process digital radiographs, intraoral scans, and impressions as needed.
- Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions and answer clinical questions within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate patient charts and document clinical notes in the practice management system.
- Monitor and restock clinical supplies and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
- Support operatory turnover for efficient patient flow.
- Help maintain a productive and efficient scheduled.
Front Office Administrative Duties:
- Greet and check in patients in a professional, warm, and courteous manner.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries promptly and accurately.
- Verify patient dental insurance benefits, obtain pre-authorizations as needed, and accurately enter information into the practice management software.
- Submit insurance claims and track claim status to ensure timely processing and payment.
- Collect patient co-pays, provide financial estimates, and assist patients with understanding their insurance coverage and out-of-pocket responsibilities.
- Schedule appointments efficiently to optimize provider and operatory utilization.
- Manage patient records, consent forms, and ensure HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as handling mail, processing payments, and referrals.
- Assist in coordination of care with referring offices.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a surgical dental clinic setting is preferred, with knowledge of dental assisting or dental receptionist duties.
- Familiarity with dental terminology is essential for effective communication within the team and with patients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients and staff.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information to patients in a clear, compassionate way.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, particularly in managing patient records through software like Open Dental.
- Knowledge of dental insurance verification, claim submission, and EOB review is preferred.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Thursday from 7:30am-5:15pm with a 1 hour lunch.
