Job Summary
The Personal Care Aide plays a crucial role in providing compassionate support and assistance to individuals with varying needs, including those with disabilities, autism, and elderly residents in nursing homes. This position involves delivering essential personal care and ensuring the well-being of clients while respecting their rights and dignity. The Personal Care Aide will work closely with healthcare professionals to facilitate a safe and nurturing environment.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Provide medication administration as prescribed and ensure adherence to medication schedules.
- Observe and report changes in clients’ conditions or behaviors to appropriate healthcare personnel.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Uphold resident rights by ensuring privacy, dignity, and respect in all interactions.
- Support individuals with disabilities and autism through tailored care approaches that promote independence.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality at all times.
- Perform CPR when necessary and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
Skills
- Strong understanding of resident rights and the ability to advocate for clients’ needs.
- Experience in patient care, including observation skills to monitor health changes effectively.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and safety practices.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with autism and other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Ability to maintain a clean work environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
