Canine Cowboy is a cozy-kennel free dog resort located in Aubrey, TX. We are dog lovers providing compassionate care to dogs and their parents. We are actively hiring for Pet Care Counselors. Shifts are 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week, from 7am-7pm with a 1 hour lunch break.

· Has previous experience working in a dog daycare & boarding facility managing play groups of 25-30 dogs. Applicants without experience will not be considered.
Pet Care Counselors play an important role in our daily operations.
The Pet Care Counselor is responsible for the supervision, control and management of daycare and boarding dogs and ensuring the safety of the playgroup. Pet Care Counselors must be able to effectively communication and build relationships with people and pet parent.s Additionally, the counselor is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the playrooms as well as other areas of the facility as assigned. The Pet Care Counselor is also responsible for general office duties. The Pet Care Counselor works under the supervision of the owner of the facility.

Primary Duties:
1. Dog Management
a. Monitor and interact with dogs in playgroups by effectively reading dog body language and redirecting dogs as necessary to ensure the safety of the group.
b. Use proper dog handling techniques including use of slip leads to transfer and move dogs as necessary.
c. Use proper dog introduction techniques to introduce new dogs into the group
d. Perform safety checks on outdoor areas and fencing before letting dogs outside to potty.
e. Safely move dogs from play rooms to outdoor areas during potty breaks
f. Monitor dogs outside at all times.
g. Scoop poop and take to dumpster
h. Perform safety checks of yards before potty breaks & perform roll call after potty breaks
i. Be able to properly identify dogs in playgroups using tags on collar or assigning dogs a paper collar with their name written on it.
j. Clean up pee, poop, and puke messes immediately as they happen
k. Feed dogs all necessary meals
l. Administer medication as instructed and complete medication reports
m. Report any injuries or illness to management immediately and create incident reports
n. Conduct behavior evaluations on new dogs using appropriate methods
o. Be knowledgeable about common dog health issues and assess health of each dog at check in, out, and daily.
p. Other duties as assigned
2. Client Relations
a. Interact with guests in a professional, positive, happy, and upbeat manner.
b. Utilize excellent communication skills to listen to clients concerns about their dogs and address them appropriately
c. Form relationships with clients and their dogs
d. Being a people person is a must!
3. Cleaning
a. Vacuum floors throughout the building
b. Mop floors
c. Dust and clean all surfaces
d. Scrub and dust walls
e. Take trash and poop to dumpster
f. Clean up poop, pee, and puke accidents as soon as they happen
g. Scoop poop in outdoor yards
h. Dishes
i. Laundry
j. Other cleaning duties as assigned
4. General Office/Admin duties
a. Check pets in
i. Verify feeding and medication instructions
ii. Verify check out date and time
b. Check out pets & collect payment
c. Review and approve boarding and daycare requests
d. Read, interpret, and verify shot records
e. Review and approve meet & greet requests
f. Call and text clients regarding their pets
g. Answer the phone and assist guests with questions
h. Other office duties as assigned
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working in a dog boarding and daycare environment managing large groups of dogs
2. High school or GED
3. At least 21 years of age
4. Must be able to pass a background check
5. Must be authorized to work in the United States
6. Must be able to work holidays & weekends
Essential Skills:
1. Must be able to use and navigate a computer and cell phone
2. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
3. Must be able to follow instructions
