Schedule: PM shift with rotating weekends

Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
The Lead Phlebotomist, under direct supervision of a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist and/or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), performs duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include functioning in a Lead capacity while performing specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and ordering/management of supplies. Provides lead oversight in the daily operations of Laboratory Support Services or Outreach Patient Service Center(s). Functions with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience. Experience in medical terminology and technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine. Effective interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills with all levels and ages of patients and of hospital staff. Ability to communicate clearly between technical, user and management staff. Written and oral communication skills in English including high school reading comprehension.
Accuracy, attention to detail and initiative to complete tasks routinely on time. Ability to assist in problem solving and know when problem needs to be brought to a higher level. Basic computer knowledge.

Education/Licensure/Certification:
High School graduate or GED. A valid current Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification of the State of California required.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
