Job Overview
The Community School of Digital and Visual Arts (CSDVA) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced K–8 Physical Education Teacher to lead a high-quality physical education program that promotes lifelong fitness, wellness, and sportsmanship. This position also includes responsibilities as an Athletic Coach, overseeing school sports teams, practices, and competitions for students in grades 5–8.
Primary Responsibilities:
Physical Education Instruction (Grades K–8)
- Plan and implement standards-aligned physical education lessons for students in grades K through 8.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where all students can develop physical skills, teamwork, and personal fitness goals.
- Incorporate social-emotional learning and character education into physical activities.
- Monitor and assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families.
- Manage equipment, maintain the gym or activity spaces, and ensure student safety at all times.
Athletic Coaching (Grades 5–8)
- Serve as head for school athletic teams (e.g., basketball, soccer, volleyball, or others as determined by student interest and school programming).
- Organize and supervise after-school practices, games, and tournaments.
- Foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong work ethic among student-athletes.
- Coordinate with league officials, transportation, and families for events and activities.
- Recruit and mentor students to participate in school athletics and extracurricular physical activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health, or a related field (preferred)
- Previous teaching experience in physical education or coaching youth sports (preferred).
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong classroom and team management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
