Position Summary
The Physician Data and Market Analyst supports optimizing physician network alignment, enhancing market insights, and driving data-driven outreach strategies. This role involves managing and analyzing complex datasets, including Epic and all-payer claims data, to assess referral patterns, market dynamics, and physician network integrity across eastern North Carolina. The Analyst identifies opportunities to strengthen physician loyalty, increase in-network retention, and support organizational growth.
As a key support to the Director of Physician Outreach and Market Development, the Analyst provides insights and analysis, organizes presentations for network development, service lines, and other stakeholders to align with ECU Health growth priorities. They will assist in maintaining and validating physician data, ensuring accuracy across systems, and facilitating updates to enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the claims data system and physician relationship management (PRM) system, including selection, implementation, governance, and maintenance.
- Support data integration, historical data migration, and updates to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Build vendor relationships and participate in optimization meetings.
- Assist in designing and leading training programs for users.
- Address gaps in system availability by creating manual processes.
- Generate actionable insights by analyzing claims data, referral data, market intelligence, and business intelligence.
- Organize biannual physician data validation.
- Manage corrections of back data errors in Epic referral records.
- Oversee large-scale updates, collaborating with liaison and planning teams.
- Perform weekly back data corrections and maintain lookup tables.
- Collaborate with the planning team on Physician Needs Assessment reporting.
- Participate in intake meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare critical data in advance of meetings.
- Collaborate on outreach plans by analyzing physician targets and market dynamics.
- Align physician outreach efforts with access standards and work queue optimization.
- Support CareLink referral data management and other systems.
- Analyze Epic data via Power BI and external all-payer claims data.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen physician network integrity and increase market share.
- Conduct competitor analysis and synthesize findings.
- Prepare slide decks around referral data, physician loyalty metrics, and market insights.
- Assist in leading and managing special projects.
- Attend service line meetings and organizational forums to present data.
- Design and produce structured reports, including the annual year-end review deck.
- Serve as an on-call data resource during meetings.
- Optimize organizational use of Microsoft 365 tools.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in healthcare administration, business, data analytics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in healthcare analytics, business intelligence, market research, or a related field.
- Proficiency with analytics platforms, such as Power BI or Tableau, and advanced skills in Excel.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with physician network alignment strategies and healthcare market dynamics.
Preferred Requirements
- Master's degree in healthcare administration (MHA), business administration (MBA), data science, or related discipline.
- 4+ years of professional experience in healthcare analytics or a related field.
