Job Overview
We are seeking skilled shipbuilding Pipefitters to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various welding techniques and a solid understanding of pipefitting practices. This role involves working on shipbuilding sites and in manufacturing settings, where you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems. A strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints and schematics are essential for success in this position.
Duties
- Tube bending and fitting.
- Installation according to drawings.
- Working with various materials (steel, copper, stainless steel).
- Assemble, and maintain piping systems according to specifications and codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project requirements.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Conduct pipe threading, soldering, tube bending, and rigging as needed.
- Ensure compliance with ASME codes & standards during all installations.
- Collaborate with other trades on construction sites to ensure efficient workflow.
- Perform maintenance on existing piping systems to prevent leaks or failures.
- Utilize basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to pipe installation.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years experience in shipbuilding or ship repair.
- Proven experience in pipefitting or a related field such as plumbing or HVAC.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Knowledge of construction site practices and safety protocols.
- Experience with assembly processes in manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Proficient in using calipers and other measuring tools for precise work.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Mobility
- Willingness to travel and work on rotational basis if necessary.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
