Job Description:
The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and organizing all aspects of the pre-operative process for surgical patients. This role ensures that patients are fully prepared for surgery, all required documentation and clearances are obtained, and surgical schedules are accurately maintained. The coordinator serves as the main point of contact for patients leading up to their procedure, working closely with the surgeon, medical team, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth and timely preparation process.
Key Responsibilities:Patient Preparation & Communication:
- Educate patients on pre-operative instructions, preparation steps, and timeline
- Confirm all required labs, medical clearances, and diagnostics are scheduled and completed
- Provide patients with detailed information about the surgical process and expectations
- Ensure all consent forms and pre-op paperwork are completed and submitted
Surgical Scheduling:
- Schedule surgical procedures
- Coordinate the surgeon’s calendar for surgery dates and pre-op visits
- Maintain accurate patient records and surgery documentation in the EMR system
- Communicate with medical assistants, nursing staff, and front desk to ensure patients are ready for surgery
- Track deadlines and follow up on any missing documentation or test results
- Assist the surgeon with surgical planning logistics as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience in surgical scheduling or medical office coordination
- Familiarity with EMR systems
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Bilingual
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
