Primary Responsibilities:
Keough Mechanical is seeking a Plumbing Estimator Assistant to join our team based in Merrillville, Indiana. This is an entry-level or early-career position ideal for someone who is organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a team player who takes ownership in his/her work, thinks critically to create solutions, and communicates effectively. You’ll work closely with our estimators to help prepare bids, track documentation, and perform other support tasks related to plumbing and piping projects. Prior construction experience is helpful but not required. We’re happy to train the right candidate. Job requirements include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
- Assist estimators in preparing project bid documents, proposals, and cost breakdowns
- Organize and review construction plans, drawings, and specifications
- Perform basic take-offs using software or printed plans (training provided)
- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing and material info
- Help maintain bid logs, job folders, and other tracking systems
- Attend internal meetings and site visits as needed to support the estimating team
- Handle general administrative tasks including scanning, filing, and data entry
- Support the team in ensuring deadlines are met and information is accurate
- Manage time efficiently to meet scheduled deadlines amongst multiple, on-going priorities
Skill Set Required:
- Experience in Construction Management Technology, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum two (2) years of verifiable related work experience, additional relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the desired degree
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills – especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Willingness to learn estimating software (Trimble) and construction processes
- Good communication skills and a team-player mindset
- Previous experience in construction or administrative support is a plus, but not required
