Description
The researcher will be responsible for conducting numerical and theoretical studies of turbulent flows and their associated geometric structures, focusing on passive and active scalar fronts, multiphase mixing layers, and astrophysical free boundaries. Responsibilities include running high-resolution GPU-accelerated simulations on exascale computing systems, developing and applying geometric measure theory tools to quantify mesoscale fractal geometry, creating physics-informed neural network models to analyze turbulent structures, and comparing simulation results to astronomical observations to develop methods for inferring three-dimensional flow properties from two-dimensional projections.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $68,000- $72,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
