Nursing Instructor Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Nursing Instructor to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for educating and training nursing students in both theoretical and practical aspects of nursing. This role requires a strong commitment to student success, a passion for teaching, and the ability to engage students in a dynamic learning environment. The Nursing Instructor will utilize various teaching methods, including lectures, simulations, and hands-on training, to prepare students for careers in nursing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging course content that aligns with curriculum standards and educational objectives.
- Facilitate classroom discussions and encourage student participation to enhance learning outcomes.
- Conduct assessments of student performance through exams, projects, and practical evaluations.
- Review documentation related to student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay current with advancements in nursing practices and integrate relevant research into course materials.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle for course management and communication with students.
- Collaborate with faculty members to improve instructional strategies and curriculum design.
- Mentor students in their professional development and provide guidance on career opportunities in nursing.
Skills
- Strong understanding of senior care principles and practices.
- Proficient in documentation review processes to ensure compliance with educational standards.
- In-depth knowledge of patient care protocols and medical terminology.
- Experience in conducting research relevant to nursing education and practice.
- Familiarity with Blackboard or similar Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Competence in nurse management and nursing administration concepts.
- Ability to effectively utilize learning technology to enhance the educational experience.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut.
- Minimum two (2) years of clinical nursing experience within the past five years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (required for full-time faculty in some settings).
- Prior teaching experience in a vocational, technical, or higher education setting.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and nursing education technologies.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $80,000.00 - $88,401.00 per year
