About The Role

Western Security Bank seeks to recruit a dynamic executive as Division President and continue the bank's tradition of success and community service in the footprint. The Division President will be responsible for the overall management and growth of the company. The position requires an individual with proven leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills to steer multiple subsidiaries towards profitable business outcomes.
This executive will lead the growth of the bank and implement strategies to meet financial objectives across the bank's key lines of business, while maintaining client focus and enhancing the delivery of high-quality banking products and services to the Company's core customer groups. Additionally, they will be charged with operating the bank in a safe and sound regulatory environment, generating profitability consistent with shareholder expectations, developing the organization’s human capital and being an important contributor in the bank's customers’ and communities’ success.
The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of banking operations, industry trends, economic conditions, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance requirements. In addition, they must possess a track record of driving revenue growth and profitability in a highly competitive environment.

The Division President will report to Randy Chesler, CEO of Glacier Bancorp, and work closely with the Western Security Board of Directors and GBCI’s senior management team. The position will be based in Billings, Montana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies that ensure sustainable dividends to shareholders.
  • Responsible for working with the Executive Team to ensure the bank achieves and maintains a strong competitive position within the industry through effective management.
  • Directly supervise the retail & business banking, commercial banking, wealth management and marketing segments and provide guidance in key operational activities related to finance, legal affairs, risk management, human resources, and other corporate functions.
  • Provide leadership and direction regarding bank initiatives, programs and activities ensuring achievement of performance goals, supporting the mission, vision, and values. Participates in the development of the corporation’s plans and programs as a strategic partner.
  • Manage the overall bank holding company budget and financial performance including profit & loss statements, financial reporting data analysis insights for the Board.
  • Foster effective working relationships with government regulators through observance of regulatory requirements with respect to capital reserves, etc.
  • Identify new business opportunities within target markets while keeping abreast of market trends /developments.
  • Ensure that all activities conform to regulations set by regulators.
  • Act as the primary representative for shareholders in public-facing situations such as investor relations or industry events.
  • Mentor, coach and develop an effective management team and actively works through a plan for development and succession.
  • Responsible for knowing and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, as detailed in policies that include but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money-laundering rules, Right to Financial Privacy, Fair Lending, Community Reinvestment Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and other laws and regulations as they pertain to the position.
  • Meet with key bank clients and prospects in a business development capacity.

About You

Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • Proven experience working within banking institutions, including executive leadership roles over a period of 15-20 years minimum.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial lending practices, policies, and structure.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local banking regulations with experience dealing directly with state or federal regulators.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships at all levels –internally (including multiple subsidiaries) –and externally e.g., bank customers, etc.
  • Adept at decision-making under complex situations while exhibiting sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiation on complex contracts advantageous.
  • Strong technological acumen, including the ability to leverage resource tools for data analysis and metrics monitoring.
  • Excellent organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.
  • Proven people skills, with the ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task, able to work in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration or another relevant field. An MBA is highly preferred.


Significant depth of experience in community or regional banking

  • 10+ years of financial services experience ideally in commercial banking with a thorough understanding of the regulatory and competitive environment key industry players economic drivers and operating issues.
  • A deep knowledge of all aspects of bank lending, operations, finance, business development, and marketing. An industry reputation that lends credibility and a relevant professional network would be a key advantage. Significant risk management experience, especially credit risk management, is of vital importance.

  • A demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain great talent and a history of setting and achieving the highest standards of performance for the leadership team. A passion for building strong, meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position. We offer an extensive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Coverage is available to employees and their eligible dependents in accordance with our written plan documents. You may also be eligible for a health savings account option, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a health rewards program, a retirement savings plan, including 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans, short and long-term disability benefits, education and training benefits, and discounts on banking products and services. We also offer a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) plan and paid holidays. PTO accruals begin at .0745 per hour worked for our part time employees up to a maximum accrual of 240 hours per year for certain Full-Time employees. PTO accruals are dependent on position, status (Full time or Part time), and years of experience in accordance with our PTO policy. Most Full-Time employees are also offered 6 paid holidays and Part Time employees are offered pro-rated paid holidays.
