Principal Network Architect wanted by a wireless & broadcast communications system provider in Cary, NC. Develop IP networking concepts and capabilities for end-to-end network solutions, using new and upcoming IP networking, wireless, cloud, and virtualization technology standards and protocols; collaborate with internal teams to define product requirements, including support of field trials and early commercial deployments; define and generate architecture requirements and documentation for the network, cloud, 5G, SDN, and NFV; participate in network planning and architecture design as well as implementation/configuration and support activities; lead efforts with internal teams to define end-to-end networking technology prototypes and proof of concept projects and execute them successfully; develop system-level testing strategies against the Core elements; work closely with the Product Management team to gather and utilize product requirements needed to architect the network; work closely with OEM partners to align their product roadmaps with internal requirements. Domestic travel 20% of the time to Atlanta GA and Denver CO.
Requires: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Networking, Computer Science, or equivalent engineering field required plus a minimum of 10 years of IT/telecommunications experience (at least 5 years of which must be post-baccalaureate experience) in job offered or similar roles. Requires 5 years of work experience with/using the following (which may have been gained concurrently):
- Protocol stacks, network topologies, and Datacenter architecture
- NFV/SDN technology standards
- Developing system requirements, interpreting network specifications, and creating and implementing test plans and reports
- TCP/IP networking protocols, including 802.11a/b/g/n, OSI, Multipath TCP (MPTCP), RADIUS, AAA, TCP/IP
- KVM or VMW
- Infrastructure-related projects with core and cloud network architecture, SNMP, REST, and APIs
- Virtual infrastructures, automation with Python or PERL
