BPI Color has a job opening at its West Allis offices. This position is responsible for print and prepress work to produce high quality digital prints and signage utilizing various large and small format equipment. Additionally, in this position at BPI Color you will use a variety of finishing and mounting equipment to complete customer’s projects. Also, in this position you’ll use Adobe and other software for design, production and prepress. The position reports directly to the VP of Operations and works with other Production Specialists to prioritize client work requirements and ensure that projects are completed on a timely, accurate basis.
Job Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service interacting with Clients, both directly and via phone/email.
- Monitor Client order process and inbound work queues to ensure that all incoming jobs are processed in a timely manner.
- Responsible for preflight preparation of graphic files submitted by designers and clients to be output on multiple large format and small format print devices.
- Continually monitor print quality to ensure that all work produced meets the highest quality standards. Identify any quality issues, problems, and/or discrepancies and bring them to the management’s attention.
- Maintain and demonstrate detailed knowledge of all job, equipment, and operating procedures.
- Effectively use and maintain all department tools and equipment, managing machine logs and coordinating maintenance and repair calls and supply orders with vendors.
- Prep machines for printing, cutting, routing, preparing artwork, text, and images according to the customers design request.
- Weed/Mask, and prep graphics for install and perform graphics installs.
- Inform management of printer/file issues. Contact appropriate vendors to report problems that require vendor intervention.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of substrate materials, ink stock, roll stock, and machine supplies.
- Assist in coordinating intercompany communication, scheduling, and materials transfer.
- Assist in maintaining file organization on the server and follow all protocols for best practices in file handling.
- Assist with unloading and checking in incoming inventory and other warehouse duties.
- Assist with local deliveries and installations.
- Perform general housekeeping duties on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by the manager.
Baseline Knowledge, Characteristics, and Qualifications:
- High school education or General Education Degree (GED)
- Integrity and strong interpersonal skills. 1-2 years’ customer service experience or interaction preferred. Must demonstrate professionalism in interaction and communication with clients and teammates.
- Computer literacy. Must demonstrate ability to effectively manipulate and route files to printers using various software, such as Adobe Suite applications and device specific applications.
- Attention to detail. Must be able to accurately review graphic files to ensure they meet the highest quality standards, very good spelling and grammar skills required.
- Ability to process, comprehend and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Solid organizational skills. Must be able to effectively multi-task and simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
- Strong knowledge of design, layout, image, and color editing software , specifically: Adobe, Illustrator and Acrobat. Must be able to effectively prepare and troubleshoot a variety of file formats and edit PDF documents.
- Follow client brand management, raster to vector file conversion, spot color matching, and font identification.
- Identify missing or problematic components of a job and communicate with the client accordingly.
- Create accurate and correct proofs for clients’ projects and receive clients’ approval.

- Strong work ethic. Must be willing to work reasonable overtime when needed to meet customer demands and department goals. Must have a sense of urgency and a desire to meet customer requested turn times.
- Accountability and dependability. Must be flexible to work overtime, including weekends. (Infrequent)
- Must be able to lift 65 lbs. and work in a standing position for periods throughout each shift.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
