Assistant Director – The Music Studio Atlanta (we are a private music school)

While a background in music or education is not required, a strong appreciation for music, the learning process, and student development is essential. Familiarity with music education environments is highly preferred.
For candidates without a music background, we provide onboarding that includes hands-on exposure to our lessons and teaching approach, including the opportunity to take complimentary lessons with our staff. This ensures you can lead and support our programs with confidence and firsthand understanding.
Scope of Responsibilities:
As the highest-ranking onsite manager, you’ll report directly to the owner. This position requires a proactive mindset, strong organizational and soft sales skills, and a confident approach to leadership and accountability. As the cornerstone of the studio experience, you’ll oversee client experience, our team of front desk managers, our teachers and adherence to studio standards, as well as collaborate with the other studio department heads - for all three Studio locations (Vinings, East Cobb, Alpharetta (Fall 2025). You’ll lead in three core areas:
1. Operations & Strategic Management
You’ll work closely with the owner and department staff to refine our current systems that make the studio more efficient, sustainable, and student-focused. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing 30/60/90-day strategic plans
- Managing front desk staff and day-to-day workflows with excellence
- Monitoring enrollment and improving retention KPIs
- Should be comfortable reviewing and working with basic budgets, expenses, and revenue goals to help make informed decisions and support efficient day-to-day operations.
- Leading from a philosophy that we’re in the relationship business, not just the lesson business
- Staying focused on the highest-leverage activities to move the studio forward
2. Client Experience & Relationship Building
You’ll continue our welcoming, warm, and professional environment that students and families are excited to return to by:
- Building strong, personal relationships with students and families
- Continuing our studio culture that values connection and celebrates growth
- Proactively anticipating needs and solve issues before they escalate, then de-escalate if needed
- The assistant director should be deeply committed to thoughtful, student-centered service that reflects the heart of our studio.
- By having a passion for the Studio, its people, music, education, community-building efforts and direction
3. Business Growth & Lead Conversion
You’ll oversee our front desk manager team in:
- Managing inbound leads and conversions using our CRM system (Opus1.io)
- Following a values-driven approach to sales and enrollment
- Identifying opportunities to increase engagement and enrollment
- Continual training and role-playing of staff to ensure excellent customer service for current and prospective students and families
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead daily studio operations with a mission-focused, service-first approach
- Supervise, train and support front desk staff
- Oversee studio cleanliness, organization, and facility safety
- Oversee inventory needs and supply orders for all three locations
- Serve as the highest manager for all clients and family’s’ needs
- Monitor and report on studio KPIs (leads, enrollments, retention, etc.)
- Assist with events, recitals, and community-building activities
- Provide thoughtful leadership that fosters collaboration, creativity, and consistent improvement
- Confidence to offer feedback, speak the truth with grace, and take ownership of outcomes
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in a leadership or management role (education, hospitality, or studio setting preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
- Experience with managing 10+ staff, systems, and operations
- Proficiency with platforms (training available for our Opus1.io), Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Canva
- Comfortable traveling between studio locations (Vinings, East Cobb, Alpharetta (Fall 2025) with reliable transportation
- Comfortable with a salaried, full-time (40 hours) with a flexible schedule in a dynamic, creative environment, to include hours on evenings and weekends.
Compensation:
- Starting salary range $59,000 - $62,000 plus bonuses for meeting studio goals
- 2 weeks of PTO after 120 days, 3 weeks at 3rd year, 160 at 4+ years
- Health insurance stipend (currently obtaining health plan for staff - vision, dental and life as well)
- Weekly music lessons with instrument of choice
- Room for advancement with pay and PTO based on performance and studio growth.
