The Process Technician operates and troubleshoots all UHT process equipment, automation controls, and production systems while observing all Puratos GMP’s, SOP’s, and SQF standards and maintaining high quality standards that meet or exceed Puratos and customer requirements.
Shifts: 2nd: 2:30pm -11:00 pm
Primary Responsibilities
Safely work with automated industrial equipment, including operation, change overs, and basic maintenance
Immediately report safety, food safety, and quality issues to the supervisor, maintenance, or management
Responsible for the overall safety, quality, and efficiency of their work center
Comply with all company and job specific SOP’s, GMP’s, and SQF (specify regulations)
Perform any other duties as instructed by the management
Demonstrate the ability to operate and understand control system
Function as the lead operator for all UHT process control systems
Master all areas of UHT operations including but not limited to scaling, manual dumping, supersack dosing, packaging equipment operation, running CIPs, and forklift operation
Operate all UHT production equipment in our scaling, dosing, processing, and packaging areas
Operate and troubleshoot MES and Simatic batch; UHT CIP/SIP system
Collaborate with Engineering team to execute continuous improvement or troubleshooting actions
Provide support and troubleshoot for quality issues, breakdowns, downtime cases, and safety incidents, lead Root Cause Analysis investigations
Start machinery and make adjustments when necessary to improve performance
Perform basic maintenance on equipment
Execute cleaning tasks, including any item on the UHT Master Cleaning Schedule
Must train new UHT process technicians or operators; support and direct other production operators
Communicate with maintenance about necessary improvements and submit work requests.
Edit automation recipes per the Master Control Process
Oversee and make adjustments to staff to gain maximum production
Enter data into OEE system’ review and analyze major downtime incidents and propose solutions
Qualify to operate forklifts as needed; work at all local production site(s) as needed; cover for breaks/absences of other operators
Conform to Puratos dress code and personal protective equipment policies
Requirements:
At least 3 years working as skilled operator or controls technician ; Control Room Operator experience a plus
Hight School or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience with UHT (Ultra High Temperature) treatment preferred
Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
Must be comfortable and capable of operating powered industrial trucks
Ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement
Must have proficient computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate both verbal and in written form in English
Must demonstrate the ability to read and show the ability to execute accordingly
Experience operating PCS7 or other automation system preferred
P.I.T. (Powered industrial truck) experienced preferred
Experience working in UHT/Aseptic environment strongly preferred.
Experience working in pharmaceuticals or food processing strongly preferred
Must be able to work in this position independently
- Physical Demands: Frequently lift up to 55 lbs; Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs with assistance; Occasional sitting, climbing/balancing, stooping/twisting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and gripping; frequent walking and push/pull; constant standing and visual acuity (near/far); never crawling Environmental Conditions: Occasional exposure to uneven ground, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, working at heights, dust/fumes; constant exposure to machinery
